Hearing aids are comprised of tiny electrical components that may experience wear and tear over time. At Rocky Mountain Hearing & Balance, we provide regular scheduled deep cleanings and checks to maintain optimal function of devices and reduce the need for future costly repairs. Specialized equipment allows our providers to perform electroacoustic analysis of devices if there is question about proper function. The providers at Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance have extensive experience that allow us to provide maintenance and in house repairs beyond typical industry standards. When repairs cannot be completed in-house, we work with every major manufacture and even some facilities that can provide repairs beyond when the manufacturer lists the device as unrepairable due to age.
Hearing aid maintenance
One easy way to keep your hearing aids in good working order is by properly caring for and maintaining the devices at home in addition to scheduled professional cleanings. This means frequent cleaning with a hearing aid cleaning brush and a dry cloth, replacing wax filters/wax traps as needed, and examining the hearing aids periodically for any damage. We feel proper maintenance is crucial.
Common hearing aid issues
You may try to turn the hearing aid on in the morning and find that there is no sound or you may find that the battery door has come unhinged. These things do happen, even when the hearing aids are properly cared for. If you should experience an issue that requires a repair, take the hearing aids to your hearing care provider. They are equipped and trained to evaluate and diagnose broken hearing aids. Often minor hearing aid repairs can be done in the office setting in a short period of time; others may need to be sent away for repair. Your hearing professional can help determine what kind of a repair is necessary if you feel your hearing aid is not working properly. Your specialists at Rocky Mountain Hearing & Balance will work as a liaison between you and the manufacturer should it require being sent away, to ensure you are up-to-date and know when you’ll be getting your devices back. As many people do not like to be without their hearing devices, our office can program temporary loaner devices while your device(s) are being repaired (this is a courtesy service when your devices have been purchased from Rocky Mountain Hearing and Balance).
Hearing aid repairs
If your hearing aids were not purchased from our office, we are happy to try to repair your hearing aids. We are able to service most major manufacturers of hearing aids. Hearing aids come with a standard warranty when purchased new. If your warranty has expired, it is still possible to repair most hearing aids depending on the extent of the repair and the age of the hearing aid. Most out of warranty repairs from the manufacturer come with additional warranty. In the event your hearing aid is severely damaged and unable to be repaired, our professionals will work with you to determine what devices would be best for your current needs.
